Erin Parish Float is a new exhibit which is unfortunately coming to close next thursday. If you were lucky enough to catch it at Baxter Chang Patri Fine Art you would have seen Parish continuing her exploration of medium, texture, color, and surface to create abstract paintings that have a universal resonance. Her new work, still very much inspired by the natural world, transcends simple representation to capture the evocative mood of a misty autumn dawn or a heavy tropical evening.
This exhibit will be continuing until May 28th

The 2004 Hartford Winery Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir is composed of exceptional, small block Pinot Noir vineyards located in the Sonoma Coast AVA. Estate vineyards are the primary sources for this cepage, which is comprised of selected blocks from our Ross Road Vineyard (Green Valley), our Seascape and Annapolis Vineyards (Sonoma Coast) and a handful of growers within the Russian River Valley. Rose petal, boysenberry, candied cherry and roasted allspice aromas capture the essence of this perennial contender for Pinot Noir Best Buy from the Sonoma Coast. Aromas of blackberries, boysenberry, nutmeg and smoke are followed by flavors of Bing cherries, roasted plum, cinnamon and allspice. The complex aromas and dense, sweet and juicy mouthfeel are supported by centered acidity, fine grain tannins and an intensely, complex finish.

Instead of debuting in a trendy men’s boutique, Sovereign Beck ties launched in an art gallery – Wallspace in Chelsea, New York. Designers WIll Beck and Ryan Sovereign are both Rhode Island School of Design Alums, who collaborated in music and the visual arts before launching their collection of neckwear “ we both realized that, while there is no longer as many situations that require formal dress, there is still a true pleasure in dressing well and looking sharp”, says the duo. “ These ties are for those of us who want to wear a tie, not have to wear one.” The ties are made of silk and evoke classic neckwear from the 1950’s through 1980’s, but look modern not vintage or retro.

In 1997 Merry Edwards and her partners launched Merry Edwards wines, allowing her to focus her winemaking on Russian River Valley Pinot Noir while planting her own vineyard with this seductive grape. Since the beginning of her career in 1973, Merry has longed to plant her own vineyard. She has a passion for growing things, for working the soil. “The finest wines are crafted from the ground up,” Merry says. “Meticulous and timely viticultural practices are critical when making Pinot Noir.” In 1996 she purchased twenty-four acres of sloping hillside on the southern border of Russian River Valley, intent on growing luscious Pinot Noir on this promising site. Early in 1997, Merry met entrepreneur Bill Bourke, a founding investor in Chalone and Ravenswood wineries; they formed a partnership to develop Meredith Estate vineyard and Merry Edwards wines. Bill and Merry presented their plans to a small group of founding shareholders; the business was incorporated in August of 1997, shortly before Merry began harvesting the inaugural vintage.

Featuring work by such noted designers as Isamu Noguchi, Marcel Breuer, Charles and Ray Eames, and Philippe Starck, among many others, Living in Motion: Design and Architecture for Flexible Dwelling brings together over 150 objects, as well as films and more than 500 illustrations, from the realm of architecture and design to address flexibility and mobility in contemporary domestic life. Organized by the Vitra Design Museum in Weil am Rhein, Germany, Living in Motion will have its only U.S. showing at the Institute of Contemporary Art.
Furniture, houses, and objects that incorporate flexibility and multi-functionalism have long been associated with the modern and the contemporary. Living in Motion explores these phenomena in design and architecture while also locating them ethnographically and anthropologically. The exhibition traces flexible modes of living back through centuries of design and across a variety of cultures, with objects ranging from early European stair-ladders to northern African tents to South American hammocks.

AmanResorts meets Africa at Marrakech’s Amanjena Hotel. It’s another departure from tropical island-chic for the chain that started a decade and a half ago in Phuket with Amanpuri. Designed by the American architect Ed Tuttle to conform harmoniously to its surroundings, Amanjena bears a distinct Moorish influence, miles from the Balinese style of its Far East sisters.
Aman addicts rest easy, though: all the elements are in place to make Amanjena a regular stop on the never-ending world tour of those jet-setters who are so loyal to this particular brand of luxury that they’ll hardly think of staying anywhere else.

Casey Berman founded Gytha Mander (meaning “a gift fom me”) in 2004 as a ready-towear collection for men and women with contemporary accents and elegant details. The line is inspired by London’s Savile Row bespoke tailoring; a Gytha Mander look reflects a “keen appreciation for the sartorial traditions of yesteryear, but remains steadfastly forward” according to Berman. “We respect the tried and true but constantly try to reinvent the classics. Gytha Mander’s 2006 collection is entitled “The Urim and the Thummim” a reference to Exodus 28:1– a meditation on Jewish Diaspora throughout history. Berman describes the llok as “punctuated by wooden ties, high collar trench coats, Yemenite t-shirt patterns, prisoner stripes, dark denim dress shirts and crocodile holsters. The collection also includes scarves for men and women, silk neckwear and blazers.

The DLO nanoTune is the only iPod nano accessory you will ever need. Its got a powerful FM Transmitter that plays your nano's music over any radio. It adds a built-in FM radio to the iPod nano. It boosts nano's volume by over 25%. But that's not all it can do for you and your nano.
It's also a protective case with access to the iPod nano's controls. nanoTune has a 30-pin connection so you can use it with your existing car charger or with your HomeDock (or Apple Universal Dock) to sync and charge your nano at home - and you never have to remove your iPod nano from the safety of the nanoTune case.

When Avec opened in late 2003 as the quiet sister of Blackbird, the holiest establishment on Randolph Row, Avec was expected to be its downgraded bistro cum wine bar. Conceived as a casual, rustic, looser turn for Blackbird’s impeccably trained chefs, it turns out that the food at Avec is (arguably) better.
A dazzling wine list presents 120 bottles of traditional, often unknown varietals from France, Italy, Spain and Portugal; some 30 selections are ingeniously presented in 250 ml. bottles or carafinas, essentially making them glass-and-a-half or one- third-bottle pours. A clean, modern and organic space of naked cedar slats, hickory floors, blond oak benches and a back display of emerald-green wine bottles, Avec’s diners sit at long communal tables or at the stainless steel bar.

Gau Designs is a Montreal design studio offering everything from furnishings to architectural interiors to photography and graphic design. My favorite piece is the Glowing Wireless table. Made of reclaimed and refinished wood, polyacrylic, and reclaimed steel, this indoor/outdoor bench/table has a built-in rechargeable lighting system (those acrylic tubes are wireless LEDs) which provide up to eight hours of light.

The goal Flowers Vineyard & Winery is to bring forth in bottle the uniqueness of vines planted to ancient marine and volcanic soils bathed in coastal mountain sun and tempered with cool ocean breezes. Our task as winemakers is to listen to the grapes and give them what they need: gentle handling, the use of age-old Burgundian techniques and attention to detail. Their hope as fellow wine lovers is that you will enjoy tasting their wines as much as they enjoy creating them.

Gentle Fawn clothing made it's debut in Los Angeles California in November 2002. The idea for the brand was sparked by a simple thrift store ceramic fawn figurine. The brand has emerged as a stylish mix of elements from nature and the city. This balance is the cornerstone of the brand, and reflects the lives of the owners Daniel and Carla Hogg. The couple divide thier time between business interests in Vancouver, where the nature inspiration evolved, and Los Angeles, where the metropolitan flavor comes from. These contrasts provide a unique international look. Gentle Fawn is now sold in more then 150 stores across the USA, and is also avaiable in Japan and Australia. The Collection is a evolving mix of concepts and ideas, always with a modern edge and streetwear sophistication.
