Born in 1914, Hans Wegner is perhaps Denmark’s best-known furniture designer. Wegner began his long career at age 14, as a craftsman, namely as an apprentice to a local cabinet-maker. Within four years he had become a journeyman joiner, and in another four -- evidently not entirely happy making things to the designs of others -- he enrolled at the Institute of Technology in Copenhagen. Wegner's education continued at the prestigious School of Arts and Crafts, where he studied under Molgaard Nielsen. After graduating, Wegner served a brief stint at the design office of Arne Jacobsen. Finally, in 1943, he opened his own design office

Since opening their restaurant Les Trois Garçons in London's East End in 2000, the trio of Hassan Abdullah, Stefan Karlson and Michel Lasserre have blazed a trail at the most fashionable end of the UK hospitality scene. Their Loungelover bar, just around the corner from Les Trois Garçons, has picked up a clutch of awards for its wildly eclectic interiors and creative cocktail menu, and their latest venture, Annex 3, near Oxford Circus, has become one of the glitziest spots in the capital.
The turn-of-the-century building has previously been a library, a seedy pole-dancing club and a restaurant, but by the time the team bought it, the interior resembled a hideous salmon pink terrazzo bathroom. Out came the tacky tiles, revealing an original mosaic floor, which became a feature of the bar where two red stiletto chairs from a Parisian shoe shop and a tin model of a fairground ride from Sweden take centre stage. An enormous eagle from the Isle-sur-la-Sorgue flea market, surrounded by 1970s Perspex lights, greets guests in the reception area, and a mosaic sculpture of a boxer emerges from a gold wall close by.

Le Plateau
After the French Production Society moved out in 1993, the only contender for this space, Stim Bâtir, envisioned a housing or dormitory complex. The locals rallied against the project, forming a resident association with artist Eric Corne at the forefront, and eventually negotiated an agreement that set aside 600 square meters for a contemporary art space. In addition to monographic and thematic exhibits, Le Plateau offers opportunities to young designers, experimental film series, dance and music performances, and classes.
The permanant collection includes pieces by Etienne Bossut, Jurgen Netzger and Tatiana Trouve

Chateau Eza and the medieval village of Eze sits 400 meters above the Mediterranean, on the Moyenne Corniche, or middle road, a Roman roadway that connects Monte Carlo and Nice. From here, obviously, it is possible to truly enjoy the Côte d'Azur, while keeping the crowd at arm's length.
The remoteness is probably what appealed to Sweden's Prince William; the chateau was once property of the Royal Family, and William spent thirty years here, pursuing his writing career. It's still quiet here, an ideal place to get some writing done, though the decor is distinctly un-Scandinavian, with luxe fabrics and French antique furnishings.

Status Foe is here not to dictate what a person should think, but to provoke thought. They are a collection of a few, with the desire of painting a fashion story through the eyes of art. Status Foe is sometimes quirky, often wry and always has an underlying serious observation of life and culture.
The Status Foe summer/fall 06 collections were conceived from a journey through lands across the world. It was a time spent touching new landscapes, feasting on art and the unfamiliar.

Hotel Biron is not an official hotel per se, but after perusing its wine list and sinking into one of the comfy sofas, folks might not want to check out. A handful of copper tables, wrought-iron bistro chairs and zinc-green walls decked with a revolving exhibition of local art further the Left Bank mood. The low lighting and high spirits form the perfect setting for an after-work get-together or romantic rendezvous.
Hotel Biron is located in Hayes Valley, at 45 Rose Street, behind the Zuni Cafe, between Market and Gough.

Claus Jensen and Henrik Holbaek of Tools Design created the "tabletop grill", for EVA SOLO, Denmark, 2006 A new creative, functional and beautiful design for a tabletop grill is this new product. The grill cooks with charcoal for full flavor. It is a perfect size for a couple, or for cooking kabobs for a party. You can use it for dining on the deck, on a picnic, or wherever you want to grill. Not quite as cool as the Eva Solo Outclass Barrel Grill but very functional for a small place nonetheless.

Peay Vineyards is located in the far northwestern corner of Sonoma County approximately 4 miles from the Pacific Ocean near Sea Ranch. The vineyard is situated along the coast, but not on the very first ridge. We have a partially obstructed avenue formed by the Wheatfield Fork of the Gualala River that allows for some fog and copious cool air penetration. The vineyard sits on a hilltop that is not way up in the air, but just at the top of the fog level, low enough to be very cool, but high enough not to be too cool and wet to grow grapes. You can buy their wines online from their website or sign up for their mailing list to notified of new releases.

Post Ranch Inn is blessed with one of the most extraordinary locations on the face of the earth, a place of such breathtaking beauty it’s hard to believe it’s even accessible by mere automobile-driving mortals. Big Sur is the most scenic destination along California’s most scenic drive, Highway 1, which links Los Angeles with San Francisco and features such curiosities as Hearst Castle and Steinbeck’s Monterey along the way.
Of course what Highway 1 mostly features is natural beauty, and some of the last unspoiled places in America. It would be difficult for any man-made structure to compete with these cliffside views of the Pacific, or the majesty of the redwood forests; but this strange and decadent little hotel holds its own.
Modernist architect Mickey Muennig settled in Big Sur in 1971, and has been responsible for most of its notable buildings ever since. Post Ranch Inn is his only hotel design, and indeed it’s hard to imagine it translating into some kind of movable hotel template, comprising as it does a number of discreet house designs, each uniquely suited to its location.
