Provenance Vineyards 2002 Rutherford Cabernet Sauvignon

80231lCovering only six square miles, the Provenance Vineyards unique soil, sun exposure and climate make it the ideal site for great Cabernet Sauvignon. Andy Beckstoffer grows our grapes in deep alluvial fans washed down over the ages from near by Mount St. John in the Mayacamas Mountains. The vines are all 10 years old or more, grown on the historic vineyard once owned by George Yount (the first person to grow winegrapes in the valley) and later Thomas Rutherford.

The richly structured Provenance Vineyards 2002 Rutherford Cabernet Sauvignon icon spent 17 months in the barrels—the 15 percent American Oak at work here are most likely responsible for its charming woody element. It's rich but not abrasive with a nice, full plum and sweet raisin finish. Give it a some years or, if you want it now, enjoy with cheese or a serious meat dish.
