MS0801 Vibrational Speaker System

Imgms0801_1

M's System is a boutique Japanese speaker-maker, with products found in Tokyo's hottest design and living shops. Japanese buyers value technology, as well as natural simplicity, and M's MS0801 speaker delivers both.

Starting from concept of speaker-as-an-instrument, the MS0801 is a vibrational speaker that fills the room with rich sound. A single speaker is all that is needed for stereo, and two speakers work great for handling four channels of a 5.1 system.

Sony Esprit TAV-L1 Theatre System

20060629_Sony

The problem with things audiovisual isn’t in the audio, it’s in the visual. Putting together your home cinema, TV, DVD player, speakers and amplifier means you’ve got more wires than a 1950s telephone operator. Set that high street hi-fi beside your Tom Dixon ‘Soft System’ sofa and it’s like serving somen with sashimi — chaos on a plate. As long as a product works, technology firms seem to feel, who cares what it looks like? In developing the Esprit brand, Sony’s European design team ignored such white-coat thinking and began with customers’ lifestyles in mind.

There are so many sites out there to post your travel pictures online, why not a place to post travel movies so that your friends and family can watch them. They are in private beta at the moment, so I have nothing in regards to interface or features, but I’ll keep you posted.

LG XNote T1 Laptop

Lgxnote2_small

The LG XNote T1 is a 14.1-inch Core Duo laptop that claims to be the world's thinnest at just 21mm. Bringing the war of cellphone thinness to notebooks, LG has really compressed the thickness of this one—we're not sure if it's physically possible to build a laptop any thinner than this.

It'll be available in a couple of wide screen resolution choices including 1280x800 WXGA or 1440x900 WXGA+ , and you can also pack it with up to 4GB of RAM. Its Intel Core Duo L2300 processor runs at 1.5GHz, it has a 5-in-1 memory card slot, fingerprint sensor and of course, WiFi and Bluetooth connectivity. And, even with all this thinness, there's still a DVD burner inside.

All those specs are well and good, but just look at it. This is one gorgeous-looking notebook, and its improbably thin form factor and 4.2 pound weight certainly make it a candidate for traveling light. Pricing and availability weren't announced.

NEC L1 Mobile Phone

The NEC L1 is the thinnest mobile phone in the world. If you are a Blackberry/Sidekick user who carries a second phone for primary voice use, or if you just want an ultraslim phone, the NEC L1 is a must have. Our favorite aspect of the L1 is its speed; some tiny phones seem to lack processing power leading to slow response-time. But the NEC L1's response is instant. The made-in-Japan L1's rock solid quality and fast response time make it a joy to use.

Another neat feature an included cable that allows you to use any headphones for handsfree; use the Amadana 117 bamboo earphones for style, or use noise-cancelling headphones to combat a noisy environment. There is also an integrated 1.3-megapixel CCD, 26mb internal storage, integrated Bluetooth, external OLED display, and an MP3 player. Ultimate Ears UE-5c

Ulears.1

With separate drivers, for high and low frequencies the dual driver design of the UE-5c delivers the same mind blowing listening experience your favorite artist and professional audio engineers demand during a live performance. Manufactured in a solid material, the UE-5c's are built to last. These earphones have performed flawlessly under the most extreme conditions that exist during a live performance. Cables are detachable and replaceable and available in clear, skintone beige, skintone dark brown, black, and white.

They aren't inexpensive, and the fact that they're custom-made to fit each customer's inner ears means you can't sell them on eBay if you don't like what they do. But I doubt that that option will occur to those who buy Ultimate Ears' UE-5c. The smooth midrange and highs and the powerful low frequencies are addictive. Yes, the UE-5c could have done with a tad more ultimate dynamic range in the bass, but that minor fault, I would imagine, is solved by Ultimate Ears' UE-10 Pro. Recommended. Highly recommended.

The E-330's biggest differentiator to any other digital SLR is its capability to deliver a live view on the LCD monitor (in the same manner as a prosumer / consumer all-in-one digital camera). For those new to digital SLR's this is difficult to achieve because of the mirror / shutter mechanism, the mirror is in the light path in view mode to provide an image to the viewfinder, this means that no image can be projected onto the main sensor. Additionally most large D-SLR sensor don't have video out capability. Other changes over the E-300 include a flip-out LCD screen and a range of feature improvements inherited from the E-500.

Fuji Finepix V10

FinepixV10

The Fuji FinePix V10 is the first model in Fujifilm's 2006 digital camera line-up to utilize Real Photo Technology. Like its 2005 predecessors with Real Photo Technology, the FinePix V10 does an outstanding job of removing graininess or "noise" from its digital pictures. Image noise, much like static in a television signal, reduces a picture's sharpness. The noise problem is compounded when digital pictures are shot at higher light sensitivities, which can vary depending on lighting conditions.

With Real Photo Technology, the FinePix V10 generates less noise than similar digital cameras and can therefore take pictures at light sensitivities as high as 1600 ISO at full resolution. Higher sensitivities open the door to a host of user benefits when combined with quicker shutter speeds. Those benefits include less shake and blur due to hand and subject movement as well as more detailed and natural-looking pictures taken in low-light environments.

The Garmin StreetPilot 2720 is a premium GPS automotive navigator that offers text-to-speech and traffic interface capabilities.

In addition to the turn-by-turn voice prompted navigation available in earlier StreetPilot models, the 2720’s text-to-speech functionality allows the unit to audibly announce the name of upcoming streets and points of interest (POIs), letting drivers keep their eyes on the road while navigating through busy traffic and tricky roadways.

For drivers in congested metropolitan areas, Garmin is offering the GTM 10, an optional FM RDS-TMC traffic receiver that receives digital information (where available) on traffic, road construction, and weather-related tie-ups. The GTM 10 receives data from selected FM broadcast stations in select cities throughout the United States and Europe. This optional feature lets drivers see congested areas via a color-coded map. When connected to the GTM 10, the Garmin StreetPilot 2720 uses this data to automatically calculate and suggest alternative routes based on the traffic information.

With such an unbelievably large capacity, the LaCie Big Disk is also ideal for large-scale backup among multiple users without causing network congestion.Twice the size of hard drives currently on the market, the LaCie Big Disk is a unique innovation that offers hundreds of gigabytes of storage space in a portable 5.25" format. Equipped with the FireWire and USB 2.0 interface, the LaCie Big Disk delivers fast transfer rates of up to 400Mbits/sec to accommodate high-volume environments such as digital imaging, pre-press and post-production facilities. Origin Live Sovereign Turntable

Sovereign_turntable

For those with sensitive ears, Origin Live's new Sovereign turntable is something of a frequency smorgasbord. Using an Encounter arm and Goldring 1042 cartridge, experts swear they can hear subtleties in sounds that they'd never noticed even in their favourite discs. The turntable is beautifully machined but the adjustment bolts are hidden from view and, coupled with a complex assembly, this can make for difficult work on Christmas morning.

Google Booking Buddy

Try this. Go to Google and type in San Francisco to London nov 18 to nov 12 and see what you get. It looks something like this:

Google_screenshot2

When you click on one of the travel brands like Expedia, Hotwire, and Orbitz, you are taken to the brand's site where the search has magically been conducted for the dates you inputted into the search engine. Similar to the way Booking Buddy works, but w/o the ability to input one-way or round-trip. Interesting application. And what if advertisers could post their deals for these destinations? Sounds like a great a great future adwords campaign if it becomes popular.
